Die drei Schwestern
Es war einmal an einem sonnigen Freitag im September vor vielen Jahren. Die drei Schwestern waren früh aufgebrochen, um im Reinhardswald Kräuter und Beeren zu sammeln. Doch sie kehrten an diesem Abend nicht zurück.
Obwohl bald zahlreiche Bewohner der umliegenden Dörfer das weitläufige Gehölz durchsuchten, fehlte auch nach Wochen jede Spur der fünf, sieben und elf Jahre alten Waisen.
Zunächst gingen die Leute davon aus, die drei wären in einem abgelegenen Teil des Waldes in einer Felsspalte verunglückt oder von wilden Tieren angefallen worden. In den folgenden Jahrzehnten häuften sich jedoch die Berichte von Kindern, denen am Waldrand drei in Felle und Blattwerk gekleidete junge Frauen begegnet waren.
Alle sagten übereinstimmend, die drei hätten ihnen im Wald etwas zeigen wollen. Aber die Kinder fürchteten sich, denn sie kannten die Geschichte der verschwundenen Schwestern. Und keines wagte es je, diesen geheimnisvollen Waldfrauen zu folgen.
Seitdem erzählt man sich in der Gegend, die Schwestern würden noch heute im Reinhardswald leben: als Hüterinnen des tief im Tann verborgenen Hexenrings - gefangen von einem Bann, der erst gebrochen wäre, wenn einst drei andere Kinder an ihre Stelle treten.

Welcome to the realm of Apoptose's "Bannwald", an album full of witchcraft, spells and ancient goddesses. Here nothing is as it seems and reality is covered by a thick layer of autumn foliage. Bannwald was originally released on CD in the year 2010. In the years to follow the album gained a huge following amongst fans of darkambient music.
Tesco and Apoptose celebrate the 10 year anniversary with the first ever vinyl edition of this long sold out masterpiece. But this is not just a simple rerelease. Apoptose remastered the sound so that you experience the girls' path into the woods and hear their voices whispering among the trees...
Beyond that the artwork and packaging invite you to immerse yourself in Bannwald's green twilight of rustling leafs and crackling twigs: the grooves are pressed in clear-brown smoked vinyl which is protected by a printed inner sleeve. On the outside a spot-varnishing adds a tactile quality to the iconic artwork of the foldout cover. This LP is limited to 300 copies. 49 of these were used for the special artist edition.
The German term "Bannwald" bears a double meaning: on one hand it stands for a protected woodland where nobody is allowed to cut trees or even to enter. On the other hand »Bann« is an ancient word for ban or spell.
